The story of THE MOON RAVEN came about unexpectedly earlier this summer. I was eyeball-deep in working on the first book in a planned trilogy as well as sketching out plot notes for THE NOMAS KING (Wraith Kings, book #4).
I received an email from my agent, asking if I had anything on the roster that I’d be willing to submit for consideration to Audible. I said no, but if I could have the weekend to come up with a premise, I’d send something over. So I percolated over some ideas and came up with one. My agent liked it, and after some tweaking, she sent it to the Audible editor. A couple of weeks later, the editor responded saying they’d chosen to pass.
This is pretty typical. I thanked them for their time and got back to the projects I’d been working on prior to the inquiry. But that story idea stuck–hard, enough to interfere with my focus on my other work. An itch like that demands to be scratched and won’t leave you alone until you do. So I did. After some basic notes and two brainstorming sessions with Ilona Andrews over iced tea and breakfast tacos, I had a story, not just a story idea. And it’s continued to evolve as I write it. I also decided to self publish it.
Writing THE MOON RAVEN also gave me the chance to once again work with one of my artists, Louisa Gallie. One of the absolute best things about self publishing is the chance to collaborate with an artist of your choice, and it’s always been a particular joy to work with Lou on book covers. And as always, she knocks it out of the park with her gorgeous artwork.

Oh fantastic, I’ll go to preorder this now if the link will let me (I’m in the UK) but I was wondering if you might make the move to release any electronic versions of your books on your website a well as on the usual platforms? As Ilona and Gordon have worth The Inheritance? As it would be great to buy from you directly where possible, and avoid platforms like amazon.
