Blade and Dagger

An exciting new romantic fantasy from USA Today Bestselling author Grace Draven.

Welcome to the Four Kingdoms of Blade and Dagger, a world of dark magic and clashing armies, where the price of failure is paid in blood and love demands sacrifice.

The series begins with THE MOON RAVEN, the story of Disaris, a woman forced into a marriage against her will, and the Moon Raven, a battle mage of shocking power, who will stop at nothing to reclaim her.

I’m very happy to announce that THE MOON RAVEN and the subsequent trilogy, BLADE AND DAGGER, have found a home with Tor-Bramble UK. Yay! The offer came in during the rollercoaster ride that was January 2026. The print and audio editions will be coming out in December, but you don’t have to wait. You can read about Disaris and the battle mage who loves her right now in ebook.

The Moon Raven

Prequel Novel

“Grace Draven is an inspirational pillar of the romantasy genre! She’s a magician at crafting stunning stories that blend incredible world-building with deeply emotional love stories. As a long-time fan, I’m always eager to be swept away in another stunning Grace Draven story.” –Carissa Broadbent

Disaris jin Gheza’s rare gift for code-breaking means she must flee a conquering army and a fanatical cult, or become their prisoner and pawn. To evade capture, she will cross perilous territories and sorcerous borders, her aim, two-fold: rescue her sister from captivity and stop a zealot from remaking the world through destruction and bloodshed.

But she won’t be facing danger alone. The battle mage known as the Moon Raven travels by her side. Once Disaris’s best friend and lover, Bron is now an uneasy ally with a death bounty on his head for desertion.

Bound together by memories and a bond that they both believe broken, the two fugitives must outrun a deadly tracker, save a loved one, and defeat a horde of fanatics – all without dying in the effort.

A tale of loyalty and longing.

A Letter From Grace

When I started writing THE MOON RAVEN, I never imagined that the story I envisioned as a novella would grow into a novel that would a gateway to a trilogy. My partner-in-crime, Evil Editor Mel, laughed at me. In my mind, it was just a short a stand-alone story, and I had clung to that belief even when it crossed 90,000 words.

This story kept surprising me. Not only did it grow beyond its original size and scope, it spawned three additional books. So it is now a stand-alone prequel.

Even more unexpected was the publication offer from the Tor-Bramble UK. Hello, Gillian Greene!!!

To clear things up, the three books that follow THE MOON RAVEN are

  • THE BLADE MAIDEN
  • THE DAGGER WIFE
  • THE KNIFE PRIESTESS

Beginning December 3, 2026, Tor-Bramble UK will go live with the UK version of THE MOON RAVEN and release the story in audio, ebook, and hardback format for all British Commonwealth territories, excluding Canada. They will also be using a different cover than what you’re seeing now on the current ebook. For the non-British Commwealth territories as well as Canada, the cover stays the same since those distribution rights stay with me. I will also release the audio and hardback version to coincide with the date Tor-Bramble UK releases their
version. Tradeback format will release a few months after that. I don’t have a hard date on that one yet but will let everyone know as soon as I do.

After that, the plan is to release THE BLADE MAIDEN (first book in the trilogy) some time in 2027. Again, no hard date yet, but I think everyone is shooting for late summer. Don’t write that in blood.

Bonus Content

Because THE MOON RAVEN had to be expanded for publication in UK, those of you who bought it prior to 07/16/2026 might not have the additional material. We pushed the new version to the retailer as a second edition, but sometimes things don’t quite work out.

Search your version for this sentence: The easy rhythm of his breathing altered, becoming faster.

If you have it, congratulations, you have the expanded edition.

If you don’t, you can download the extra content here, as a bonus book.

I wanted to tell you a little about how the title of this bonus chapter collection came into being. It is a quote from a famous poem by the 6th century bard, Taliesin. It’s called The Battle Of Argoed Llwyfain, and it describes a brutal battle between the Brythonic forces of King Urien against the invading Berniciaen Anglo-Saxons. The defenders fought so fiercely, that the field of battle became a graveyard and the ravens turned red from feasting on the bodies of the fallen.
